ABOUT USA Capella Singers, an auditioned choir, was founded in 1975 by Ron James, its first Musical Director and current Patron. And yes, that's meant to be Capella with one 'p' - it was Ron's musical joke.
The choir comprises around 25 members and performs 3 concerts a year with repertoire ranging from Renaissance to the present day. Concerts are usually presented at First Church in Invercargill. The current Musical Director is Christine McLeod. In 2009, a smaller group - A Capella Concertino was formed to perform more challenging repertoire. Guest soloists have included Jonathan Lemalu, Howard Harvey, Judy Bellingham and Rebecca Ryan. |
